National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

As the national clearinghouse on missing and exploited children issues, NCMEC is uniquely situated to identify trends and create educational resources to address the changing needs of children, families, and communities. NCMEC provides safety and prevention resources for families and child-serving professionals focusing on the topics of online and real-world safety, including skills on how to handle a variety of situations ranging from staying home alone to knowing what to do in case of an emergency, to abduction and child sexual exploitation prevention.

Since its beginning in 1984, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has sought to

* Prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation

* Find missing children

* Help victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, as well as their families

Some specific programs the NCMEC conduct include

* Serving as a clearinghouse for information about missing and exploited children

* Distributing photographs and descriptions of missing children

* Operating a hotline for reporting Internet-related child sexual exploitation

NCMEC also assists and trains law enforcement agencies and social service professionals to prevent, investigate, prosecute, and treat cases involving missing and exploited children.

Black & Missing 
Foundation

The Black and Missing Foundation, Inc (BAMFI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to bring awareness to missing persons of color; provide vital resources and tools to missing person's families and friends and to educate the minority community on personal safety.
* BAMFI was founded in 2008 by experts in the fields of law enforcement and public relations; two vital expertise needed to help bring awareness to and find those missing from our communities.
* BAMFI creates public awareness campaigns for public safety and provides parents and loved ones of missing persons with a forum for spreading the word of their disappearance, with pictures and profiles of missing individuals. BAMFI also utilizes a variety of media platforms, including print, television, radio, and social media, to help locate those missing.
